An Approach to Solving the Permanent Access to Safe Drinking Water in Rural China

Access to safe drinking water is one of the sustainable development issues included in the UN Millennium Declaration Goals. This paper presents the approach to solving the problems related to the permanent access to drinking water in rural areas of China in recent years. The present status of drinking water in rural China, the policies, measures, progress and performance of solving problems related to the permanent access to drinking water in rural areas of China in recent years are introduced. The challenges of providing access to safe drinking water in China are analysed. Finally, strategies and solutions are presented and recommendations and suggestions given.
