ON GENERALIZED PENCILS

摘要

Many control theory problems can be stated in terms of the completion of a given pencil up to a pencil having certain properties. The general pencil completion problem is translated into a matrix completion problem. Allowable equivalence relations are defined. A strategy to obtain the corresponding invariants and canonical forms is developed in some particular cases.
