Because the rate of arrival of requests to Web applications is distributed in a non-uniform fashion the applications consume more resources and the response time is longer than when the same application is subject to a more uniform load. This occurs when both workloads have the same intensity (e.g. 10 requests per second). In this paper we show how given the current workload of an application one can generate a much heavier work load (scale the load up) and keep the same pattern of distribution of the requests over time. Given a current work load intensity of 1/4 requests per second we show a method to generate a work load of a higher intensity (in our case the target was 80 requests per second, scale up of 320).
