摘要

This paper introduces the yarn materials used for directiounlly oriented knitted fabrics, the related manufacturing machines and the composite applications, and the study and application of biaxial weft knitted fabrics and the reinforced composites in China are particularly presented in detail. The research results suggested that in addition to the same outstanding mechanical properties of the dircctionally oriented weft knitted fabrics as those of the directionally oriented warp knitted fabrics, the directionally oriented weft knitted fabrics (especially biaxial weft knitted fabrics) possess perfect conformability to 3D surface. Therefore, there is a great application potential for the directionally oriented weft knitted fabric reinforced composites in the field of 3D shells.
