The so-called wool noil refers to the short wool waste from the worsted process during the worsted spinning. It is usually not reused as the main material but as the blended wool in small rate during the woolen spinning. The feasibility is investigated for the noil spinning on cotton spinning system. This paper presents an analysis of the processing of 50Nm wool noil worsted yarn on a cotton spinning line, which will be helpful to making full use of the wool noil. The 580 kg 50 Nm pure worsted yarn from the wool noil trial spinning is woven into the grosses gabardine, the quality of which is comparable with that of worsted cloth from wool spinning. Apart from the weaving and dyeing at the same cost as the conventional wool spinning, the cost of the yarn spinning is only 30.76% that of the regular worsted yarn spinning. This may result from the fact that the cost of the wool noil is only 52% that of the normal wool, and the processing procedures of wool noil on a cotton spinning system are only half of those of the traditional spinning. The so-called wool noil refers to the short wool waste from the worsted process during the worsted spinning. It is usually not reused as the main material but as the blended wool in small rate during the woolen spinning. The feasibility is investigated for the noil spinning on cotton spinning system. Compared with the wool spinning one, the cotton spinning line is featured with short technological process, few working steps, and short processed fiber. This paper will carry out an analysis of the 50Nm beige pure wool yarn production with the short wool noil from the high-quality wool tops spinning on the cotton spinning equipment.
