USHERING THE NEW ERA FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE WORLD TEXTILE INDUSTRY

The textile industry, as the outcome of human civilization, is called " sunset industry" in some developed countries today, but this by no means changes its undoubted fundamental position in the history of human development because people must first satisfy their basic material needs of catering, drinking, housing and clothing before they engage in politics, science, art, religion and other cultural and ideological undertakings. In other words, the production of direct and material means of subsistence and the certain stage of economic growth of a nation or times consist of the basis upon which develop a country's system and legal, art, and religious concepts. The improving science and technology, the newly-emerging industries and the changing social relations―all these are nothing but to provide for this basis more efficient mode of production and higher social demand. The difference in the position of the basis in various countries is caused by the distinction in division of labor in different ages and phase of progresses. Nevertheless, people's realization of the future of the textile industry in the new period has direct bearing on the progress of the world's textile industry and the grasp of development opportunities for various countries. Today I would like to share with you my view on the trend of the progress of the world textile industry and then make a brief introduction to the development of extile industry in China.
