A Self-supporting Armored Optical Fiber Cable for Sewer Applications

摘要

A self-supporting armored optical fiber cable has been developed for sewer applications in order to take advantage of sewer resources in all cities. The cable has a lot of advantages and can be deployed with a simple installation method instead of the aid of robots. In this paper, the structure, the performance and the advantages of the cable are introduced. Meanwhile, the unique installation method of the cable is recommended. Installing the cable in sanitary or storm sewers can be adopted as one of the most effective solutions for "last mile" optical fiber network construction and regarded as an attractive alternative in cable deployment for most telecommunication carriers.
