Free-flight tests were conducted in the DRDC -Valcartier aeroballistic range on a long range artillery shell equipped with lifting surfaces at Mach 0.6. All the main aerodynamic coefficients and dynamic stability derivatives as well as nonlinear ones were very well determined. The Magnus force slope as well as the cubic expansion term were well resolved. High order Magnus moment coefficient terms explained the measured angular motion. A dynamic stability analysis was also performed.
