The paper analyzes bandwidth control techniques in order to propose an architecture to improve bandwidth usage. A network architecture employs several techniques in order to manage, predict and handle traffic issues due to Ethernet's best effort delivery system. Bandwidth allocation, traffic engineering and a resulting post analysis architecture are presented in that order. Ethernet's resources are dissected in order to study each component separately and present a traffic-effective architecture at each hierarchical level. The analysis indicates that, by improving each topology hierarchical level, network performance is increased globally.
