'Cultural Aspects of Peat and Peatlands' describes Theme 10 of this conference,and not by coincidence,this is also the name of the youngest commission of the International Peat Society:Commission VIII.To describe what is meant by this title one might start with the definition of 'Culture' as presented by the on-line edition of the Oxford Dictionary:The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.A refined understanding or appreciation of this. The customs,institutions,and achievements of a particular nation,people,or group. The cultivation of plants,breeding of animals,or production of cells or tissues. A preparation of cells grown in an artificial medium containing nutrients.
