Clearly, further theoretical and experimental effort is needed to understand the axial length scales of the contraction region, the reason for the contraction, and the anode fall. However, the results clearly show the role of the non-LTE anode sheath and the dominant anode heating components needed for modeling electrodes in HID lamps.
