In tungsten cluster lamps that are expected to have a high luminous efficacy and excellent color-rendering indices, the continuous generation of a halogen cycle is required to form small tungsten clusters in a microwave-excited high-pressure discharge at a high temperature. To continue the halogen cycle, metal halides perform an important function, but it is unfortunately unknown how the metal halides affect radiation of the tungsten clusters. This paper describes spectral distribution, luminous efficacy and correlated color temperature (CCT) of tungsten cluster radiation, which are affected by the metal halides such as NaCl, KG, CsCl, NaBr, KBr, CsBr, Nal, and KI.
