摘要

Mercury-free fluorescent lamps require efficient phosphors for vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation. We previously demonstrated that boron-rich borate phosphors (i.e. YAl_3(BO_3)_4: :Tb~(3+) and Gd(BO_2)_3:Tb~(3+) ) were good materials for this application because the energy levels of the polyborate anions lie in the VUV range, enabling an efficient energy transfer from the anions to the Tb~(3+) ions [1]. This work is a continuation of our systematie investigation of polyborate phosphors activated with Tb~(3+).
