For nearly four years, North American petrochemical producers have been challenged to adapt to an environment of higher feedstock and energy costs. Observations of evolving international trade patterns and commitments of capital during this time provide clear indications of a new world competitive order. Despite these challenges, the North American petrochemical industry will continue to be viable and will lead in the development of new products and manufacturing capabilities.
