This paper presents the experimental and numerical investigations carried out to analyze a large landslide. The La Frasse landslide was the subject of a technical visit during the Vth ISL. It experiences a movement about 12 cm/year in its central part and crises in its lower part. New geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations enabled a better knowledge of the storage coefficient of the landslide and the mechanical parameters of the soil layers. Numerical simulations of the time-dependent pressure fields and of the hydro-mechanical behavior during the crisis of 1994 are illustrated. The effectiveness of the use of an advanced soil constitutive law and the influence of the existing pumping and planned additional drainage are also briefly discussed.
