摘要

The Idealized Structural Unit Method (ISUM) has become a valuable tool for assessing the load carrying capacity at the structural system level. In this paper, the formulation of the most recent ISUM plate element is extended so that lateral loads can be directly applied to the plate element. Comparisons with FEA demonstrate the applicability of the approach to stiffened plates under lateral pressure and thrust.
