摘要

A standardized methodology has been applied to the risk assessment of devices and activities for which only limited operational data are available. While similar information could be obtained by simpler means, the structured process addresses the entire lifecycle and serves as the basis not only for the nuclear safety program, but also for the management of associated activities such as training. By assigning risk to ac- tivities performed by permit holders, the assessment allows identification of training requirements and reallocation of resources for overseeing the program. Specifically, it forms the basis for the modification of inspection frequency from being constant across the board to one depending on risk, and to the ongoing amendment of training requirements of radiation safety personnel and users as well as a better alignment of the regulatory effort with risk.
