The closed system of grouting curtain, drainage and pumping measures should be designed and built where the downstream water level is high. The combined theoretical and numerical method is utilized to analyze the seepage field and its factors in the dam foundation with the close system. It can be shown that, (1) seepage flows from the upstream to the downstream, also flows mainly from the upstream and the downstream to the pimping well in dam foundation; (2) the grouting curtain controls the seepage discharge; and (3) the good service condition of the drainage and pumping system can decrease largely the hydrostatic seepage pressure (or the uplift pressure).
