Numerical Simulation of the Internal Flow in the Vertical Woltmann Water Meter

Firstly, a three-dimensional model of WS-80 vertical Woltmann water meter was created according to its geometrical parameters. And then the finite volume based SIMPLEC method and two different turbulence models (k-epsilon RNG and k-epsilon realizable) are used to get the internal flow of Water Meter, respectively. Finally, the details of flow, such as pressure loss, velocity vector and pressure distribution of flow field are derived. In addition, the numerical simulation of pressure loss was compared with experimental data. It has been found that numerical simulation results can really reflect the complicated internal flow of water meter, and they can be used as the guidance for the design and optimization of vertical Woltmann water meter.
