摘要

Macro-segregation in steel continuous casting of billet can be alleviated using the final electromagnetic stirring (F-EMS). However, it is necessary to understand the metallurgical length of billet to fit electromagnetic stirrer. In the present work, a mathematical model of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer has been developed to analyze the temperature and concentration distribution of billet and to predict the metallurgical length and centerline macro-segregation. Through comparing numerical results with the available experimental data, it is verified that the model is reasonable and reliable.
