It is of great importance to enhance heat transfer in shell side of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. By considering the complex heat transfer enhancement between the baffle supports and enhanced tubes, these years South China University of Technology has studied and developed several shell side structures, which considerably increase the performance of heat transfer and reduce the flow residence. Some of the enhanced technologies have been applied in industries and achieved good energy conversation and consumption reduction effectiveness.
