Using Metadata in Information System for the National Library of Korea

摘要

Metadata has proved a highly successful tool to describe catalogues for library materials. Currently, the National Library of Korea (NLK) uses three kinds of metadata formats -Korean MARC (KORMARC), Dublin Core (DC), Onix - to manipulate and exchange the catalogues of various materials. In this paper, we show how those metadata formats are used in the information system in NLK to perform national bibliographic control. Also, we show mapping relations among those metadata formats and techniques used for mapping metadata formats in the information system in NLK.
