This paper presents the development of a mathematical model, which calculates the creep flow curves of an OPGW cable based on the flow curves of the individual cable components. It enables the estimation of creep strain in the cable project. Creep tests were run with different types of cables, as well as with cable components like stranded wire and metallic central tube. The flow curves of the cables at a particular stress were compared with the flow curves of the components at stresses equivalent to the cable stress. A relationship was then obtained between the flow curves of the cable and those of the components. The mathematical model allowed for the development of software that yields an estimation of the creep flow curve of the cable from the mechanical and dimensional characteristics of the components.
