Features and Benefits of Partially Stabilized Zirconia Crucibles for Precision Investment Casting

The process of investment casting typically requires the use of a refractory crucible for melting and pouring the selected alloy into the mold. Typically a variety of oxide ceramic materials are used for this application. To meet the needs of refractoriness, chemical stability, and thermal shock resistance, many of the commonly used materials have significant drawbacks. Partially stabilized zirconia crucibles overcome many of these issues by a combination of their physical and chemical properties and should be the material of choice for vacuum precision investment casting.
