Improved Method of Ligtning Limiting Parameters for estimation of annual number of backflashovers due to lightning discharges is described in the paper. The influence of insulation flashover voltage probability distribution on the overhead line flashover rate is described and discussed. The results obtained for the different cases, which were taken from the existing practice, are compared with the results obtained using method described in the paper.
