Geopolymers are a novel family of inorganic polymeric materials whose principal constituents are silicon, aluminum, oxygen, sodium or potassium and water with unique properties that make them promising candidates in several engineering applications. Two geopolymeric samples of the Na-PSS and Na-PSDS families with Si/Al ratios of 1.8 and 6.1 were synthesized using low-cost commercially available materials and cured at 65°C for 90 minutes. Experimental techniques were used to measure the thermal diffusivity, specific heat and thermal conductivity on both samples. Results shown that in both cases the measured properties are lower than some common engineering materials and the thermal conductivity shows a linear variation with respect to temperature for the Na-PSDS sample.
