The Himalayas in India is one of the biodiversity hotspots in the world. An integrated approach with the help of empirical study and using satellite imagery was undertaken to study the impact of conservation and management model (CMm) in the region. Methods have been applied to understand the development of traditional animal husbandry system, as well as the vegetation dynamics of alpine pastures which is reservoirs of varieties of endangered flora and fauna. The economic and ecological consequence of CMm is not showing positive trend thus does not support for the approach and framework of the current CMm in the fragile Himalayan region. With the help of the current study the efforts are being made to discuss in a more realistic way -whether or not - "is grazing good for pasture ecosystems in the Himalaya?"
