Mitigating Subsidence Influences on Residential Structures Caused by Longwall Mining Operations

The severity of disturbances caused by longwall mining subsidence to various residential structures can be reduced. The success of such mitigation efforts depends on accurate subsidence prediction, correct assessments of the subsidence influences, and careful design and implementation of the proper mitigation measures. This paper presents the systematic approach involved in the subsidence mitigation efforts with a case demonstration.
