BG-VAP, a process based on the evaporation of leachate by direct contact with combustion gases has been studied by the research centre of ONYX. With a burner supplied by the landfill biogas, the technology presents the advantage of generating residues corresponding to less than 3 % in mass of the treated volume. After the development of a pilot unit (180 L/h capacity), eleven industrial facilities were built since September 2001. The evaporator capacity is between 18 m 3 /d and 60 m 3 /d depends on the design of the evaporator. This paper reports on an assessment of the quantity and the quality of the effluents that was performed on the installation since the start-up.
