The paper analyzes the MSW components in Shenyang DaXin engineering landfill, Liaoning Province, P.R.China. The annual volume of the methane gas (CH4) emitted from the landfill, the peak volume years of emitted methane gas, and the life time of emitting methane gas in the landfill are predicted. The volumes and the life time are compared theoretically with a same size contrast, a MSW engineering landfill in U.S. The feasibility of using the MSW landfills to generate electric power in Shenyang Daxin landfill is estimated in the paper. It presents the problems now and in the future in this type of centralized landfill that is planned to set up more in China, and also the benefit in it, such as, transferring the landfill gas to energy.
