EAF Steel slag and ladle furnace slag are solid wastes from electronic furnace steel-making process. Ladle furnace slag is characteristic of being basic mineral composition and micro-fine powder. In view of environment and resource, it is becoming increasingly important to maximize these assets into high value-added products. In this research, modified asphalt pavement mixtures made of both steel slag as aggregate and ladle furnace slag as filler or fine aggregate were prepared. The mechanical properties, permanent deformation and moisture susceptibility of modified asphalt pavement mixtures were evaluated. The results showed that ladle furnace slag could be used as both filler materials and fine aggregate (300-75 μ) in steel slag aggregate-based asphalt mixtures. When LF slag was added into asphalt mixtures, the Marshall stability, resilient modulus and split strength of these materials were increased. Meanwhile, LF slag as filler has an obviously role in reducing permanent strain and improving moisture susceptibility.
