Design and construction of machine foundations in the cold regions requires knowledge of the dynamic properties and behavior of ice and frozen soils. The objective of the present paper is to shed lights on the dynamic testing of frozen grounds through the presentation of the Author's experimental research along with other scientists. The Author's research includes: participation in developing testing equipment and techniques, preparations and dynamic testing of polycrystalline ice samples, and utilization of software for data interpretation. The obtained results on dynamic properties showed good agreement with the published results. The paper concludes with recommendations for developing standards for Laboratory Dynamic Testing of Ice and Frozen Soils (LDTIFS), as part of current research work.
