Pesticide residues in ground and surface water cause problems both in the ecosystem and in drinking water reservoirs. A portable and relatively inexpensive device for direct on-site screening during measurement campaigns or at fixed times has been developed. First promising results for 0 and 10 μg/l of Atrazine in the analyte were obtained by using a miniaturized optical cell with dimensions of 1x1cm~2. It could be demonstrated that this detection principle can be approached for the registration of the trace concentration of Atrazine in the analyte (down to at least 0.1 μg/l).
