According to the service conditions and the raw material resource condition in china, a series of castables were developed for ladles of HP/UHP EAF. Field trials at many steel mills showed that the developed castables had not only long service life but also cost efficiency compared to the regular used ladle linings. The factors of influencing the service life of ladle linings were also discussed.
