The Modified Ecuprex~R Process: A Promising Hydrometallurgy Approach for Chalcopyrite-bearing Copper Concentrates

A modified ECUPREX Process, which is suitable for chalcopyrite-bearing copper concentrates, is described. The advantages over the conventional processes include a lower environmental impact, a smaller size for an economically viable plant and the modularity that allows an easy possible future expansion of the plant. The economical aspects of the combined process, resulting from the preparation of some feasibility studies, are also briefly discussed.
