Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ; ZrO_2-8wt.%Y2O_3) and Ceria stabilized zirconia (CSZ; ZrO_2-25wt.%CeO_2-2.5wt.% Y_2O_3) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) were fabricated by detonation gun spraying and tested hot corrosion by NaVO_3 at 900 °C. Hot corrosion properties of both TBCs and stabilizer behavior during the tests were compared. The microscopic degradation mechanism of zirconia based TBCs by hot corrosion were discussed.
