The preferential CO oxidation (PROX) in the presence of excess hydrogen was studied over Pt-Ni/y-Al2C>3 prepared by a co-impregnation method from Pt(NH3)4(NO3)2 and Ni(NO3)2 The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), O2 chemisorption, temperature programmed oxidation (TPO), temperature programmed reduction (TPR), and X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) were conducted to characterize these catalysts. This Pt-Ni/y-A^Oj catalyst showed the enhanced PROX activity compared with that of Pt catalyst,. The PROX and CO methanation activity was affected by the reductive pretreatment condition, which was closely related to the composition of bimetallic phase of Pt-Ni.
