INTEGRATION OF INFORMATION IN MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS - APPROACH TO THE REFERENCE MODEL

Growing customer requirements and increasing global competition force manufacturing companies to offer higher quality and chipper products. Reduction of production costs is necessary, at the same time the labour cost is growing. The situation force significant changes in production process and the way the companies produce, like geographical distribution of production, closer co-operation with suppliers, innovative processes, intelligent and knowledge based systems, etc. Most of those improvements require proper computer based integration. The paper focuses on the problem of integration of information flow in manufacturing companies. Present situation, possible further development in this field and approach to the reference model is presented.
