Knowledge of the fundamentals of structural engineering for architects is indispensable. However, teaching and learning structures in architectural colleges is an everyday obstacle race. Students and studio professors often expect practical application of the knowledge of structures gained in a short period after the commencement of the course in structures. Moreover, a considerable number of students lack sufficient background knowledge of basic sciences and therefore are reluctant to learn about structural systems. On the other hand, instructors of structures have a very hard time to incorporate all the necessary structural issues in the limited course curricula and prepare students for appropriate application of structural engineering in architectural design. Structural education of architectural students can be vastly improved with the use of computer and related structural engineering software. Computer software allows quick modelling of structural systems with a variety of alternatives in structural design, thus making the course appealing to students.
