The character and extent of the pore structure and consequent moisture transport parameters changes due to carbonation process were investigated for the characteristic types of the contemporary lime/cement plasters: lime-cement, cement, renovation and the thermal insulation plasters containing expanded polystyrene and expanded perlite fillers. The importance of the particular pore structure parameters changes for the changes of the coupled moisture accumulation and moisture transport parameters was assessed for the each plaster type. The most important changes due to carbonation were noticed for the moisture accumulation parameters. In principle during their service life the plasters should be considered as carbonated materials and in their hygrothermal performance prediction the parameters of the carbonated materials should be used.
