To maintain a proper oil temperature, most industrial hydraulic systems require some sort of oil cooler. The decision about what type to use can make a significant impact on the overall system design. By selecting a compact and efficient oil cooler, the overall size of the hydraulic system can be minimized and the consumption of water required for cooling can be reduced. Plate heat exchangers hold a number of characteristics that make them particularly well suited for oil cooling duties with a high heat transfer coefficient - thereby creating highly efficient oil cooling. The plate heat exchanger’s efficient cooling action, combined with a true counter-current flow, allows maximum usage of the cooling water. In fact, because the outlet temperature of the cooling water can be very close to the inlet temperature of the oil, minimal consumption of the cooling water occurs.
