The modeling method put forth by Johnson [2014], a companion paper at this same conference, was applied to a commercially available electrohydraulic proportional valve using a fixed discharge coefficient valve model. This modeling method relies upon externally measured performance data, not internal dimensions or other details. The discussion describes the test procedure, which is essentially the same as that put forth in ISO 10770-1 [2007], the test and tested equipment, and the methods of processing the data. There was one exception to ISO 10770-1: The two work port pressures were recorded during the flow metering test necessitated by high work port pressure loss. Also described are the analytical methods used to synthesize the model parameters from the test results and the procedures for adjusting raw data for imperfect parameter regulation during testing. Then model results are compared directly to the test results with excellent correlations between the two.
