New multilayered multicast applications have been emerged to deal with Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of heterogeneous receivers. Such applications introduce different mechanisms to accomplish their purposes such as the employment of implosion avoidance and quality control schemes, and the adoption of new feedback semantics. In this paper, we address the development of mechanisms that yield enhancements in quality/fairness of multilayered multicast sessions. For this purpose, we propose a quality control scheme that allows for the density of satisfied users, the weighted bandwidth allocation, and the perceived quality at receivers. The feedback implosion problem is analyzed considering a feedback aggregation approach and a cooperative scheme among receivers. Our analysis shows that feedback aggregation is a potential solution to avoid feedback implosion while allowing the use of novel feedback semantics.
