The space micro systems, such as micro satellites in the scale of micro-, nano-, or pico-, or the deep space exploration systems and their subsystems in the micro scale or nature, have the natural benefit of MEMS(micro-electromechanical system) and the nanotechnology. This is because the size, weight, and cost factors play a critical role in space systems, among other reasons, and thus the miniaturization of space systems has been one of the major implementation goals aiming at many potential advantages in space systems. Such space systems span from the communication satellites, remote sensing satellites, and space systems for the defense missions, to the earth-orbiting or navigating spacecrafts for the earth science and space exploration missions. These micro space systems will be implemented or affected, either partially or fully, by the applications and fusion of MEMS and nanotechnology along with the conventional technologies. In this paper, it is tried to forecast the progression of research and development in the area of space micro systems in relation to their impact to other areas of terrestrial systems employing the MEMS and nanotechnology. The commercial value of space micro systems and its relevance and feasibility of development in the long run and the other aspects of their contribution in the practical sense are briefly estimated.
