This paper presents an experimental study of the isolated house of multi-rib slab with light-weight outer frame structure. Design of model and different testing method are discussed. Testing results are analyzed in detail from the angle of frequency. According to the results of the testing, the isolated system is simplified; a single-degree-of-freedom bilinear system is built up to do some numerical analysis. Several factors are considered. Finally, some useful conclusions are drawn by experiment and numerical analysis: (1) In most site-condition, the influence of earthquake is played down greatly by introducing rubber bearing with lead plug; (2) The elementary vibration mode is changed, and mostly depending on the parameters of the isolated layer; (3) Most of the displacement is focused on the isolated bearings; (4) The torsion of super structure is reduced; (5) By adjusting the parameter of the isolated layer reasonably,optimal effect of isolated structure can be achieved.
