Developing a Stakeholder Identification and Analysis Technique for Use in Information System Redesign

The centrality of stakeholders within information systems is now well recognised and Stakeholder Analysis distinguishes who has the most impact on a system development. However, the importance of stakeholder identification is often overlooked. PISO (Process Improvement for Strategic Objectives) is a method developed to effect information system improvements, which supports stakeholder analysis, although it presently contains no prescriptive technique for this. To address both issues, an initial stakeholder identification and analysis technique is presented in this paper; an explanation of its development and its application on a PISO case study is also given.
