In this paper the Preisach model is used to simulate magnetic hysteresis. Gaussian distribution is frequently applied as the distribution function of the model. The idea of using Cauchy distribution to produce hysteresis loops is presented. The influence of each distribution parameter is shown. The calculated results are compared with the technical data of a sample. This study indicates that Cauchy distribution can be applied favourably to simulate hysteresis loops.
