International Partnership for Estimating Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Under the Greenhouse Gases Emissions Estimating Consortium (GGEEC) -- an industry / government alliance-- researchers are working to develop and make available a web-based tool that will serve as a uniform template with default values for countries to use in developing accurate emission estimates for hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF_6). The model will provide 1) additional information (e.g., emission factors and parameters) for each of the major application areas, 2) verification of country-level emission estimates thereby reducing uncertainties, and 3) a basis for future emissions projections. The GGEEC will facilitate the implementation of the IPCC "good practice" guidelines. The GGEEC is supporting research and modeling activities in various HFC, PFC and SF_6 application sectors.
