The Greenhouse Gas Protocol ― highlights of a corporate accounting and reporting standard

The mission of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative (GHG Protocol) is to develop and promote internationally accepted greenhouse gas (QHG) accounting and reporting standards through an open and inclusive process. Jointly convened in 1998 by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), the GHG Protocol is a unique multi-stakeholder partnership of businesses, NGOs, and governments that serves as the premier source of knowledge about corporate GHG accounting and reporting. This corporate accounting and reporting standard as well as the user-friendly GHG calculation tools on the web (www.ghgprotocol.org) draws on the expertise and contributions of more than 350 stakeholders from business, NGOs, government and inter-government organizations from around the world and has been draft tested by more than 30 companies from 10 countries.
