EDGAR 3.2: Reference database with trend data of global greenhouse gas emissions for 1970-1995

EDGAR 2.0 provided global annual emissions of greenhouse gases from anthropogenic sources, both per region and on a 1x1 degree grid. The overall aim for EDGAR 3.2 was to update the inventories from 1990 to 1995, and for direct greenhouse gases also to 1970 as well as to include new greenhouse gases MFCs, PFCs and SF_6. For updating and extended time series different priorities were given for four groups of gases; (a) direct greenhouse gases CO_2, CH_4, N_2O and new gases HFCs, PFCs, SF_6: 1970-1995; (b) ozone precursors CO, NO_x, NMVOC as well as SO_2 and NH_3 update 1990 and 1995; (c) extend CFCs, halons, HCFCs to 1900-1995. Special attention was given to the compilation of a reference dataset for the new F-gases as none was available and to the 1970-1995 trend assessment of global methane emissions. The work is linked into and part of the Global Emissions Inventory Activity of IGBP/IGAC.
